16th Century German Maximilian Helmet
This beautiful example of fine German armour.
One of the most desirable closed helmet from the 16th century. This Maximilian helmet bears the Nuremberg inspection mark.
Forged from one piece with a fluted skull and pointed visor with eye slits and several shorter breathing slits. The visor has several notches to allow a movable lever to hold the visor at a partially opened potion, this was added at a later stage probably when the helmet had restoration or repairs.
The visor itself does not close completely which is due to these repairs which would have been done due to blows or trauma received. Some of the rivets have also been restored or replaced. The helmet is worn by a pressure lock on one side which allows the user to open the helmet.
