Spanish Bilbao Hilt Rapier 17th entury.

This style and design associated with colonial troops.

The hilt is very interesting with a large dish and smaller dish. A pair of stright quillons with knuckle guard. The grip consists of wooden handle with vertical iron fittings and a oval pommel.

The blade is a double edge. The condition of the blade is good considering its age and shows signs of use, the sword also included a museum reference on the blade. The blade also has a slight cant which is not unsual for rapiers that ahve seen extensive use.

The rapier is very well balanced and robust.
