18th Century Italian Silver Dagger
This very desirable Italian Stiletto dagger is in a fine state, it was probably manufactured in Genoa.
These types of dagger are by far some of the most highly sought after.
The hilt is very simple having a simple yet intricate design, the grip is either ebony or horn with spiral design with twisted copper wire. Small silver accents, on the silver cap and a silver ferrule..
The dagger has a unusual designed double edge which is multi fullered with the evidence of extensive engravings in the fullers. The blade design shows the role of this dagger was personal defence. The dagger would have been hidden and the unusual blade design and cross section means any puncture wound would leave an uncommon puncture and make it harder to heal or seal.
The scabbard is in fine condition having silver fittings and excellent leather. the silver fitting at the top (mouth) has some slight play.
